For the Growth of the Game

Growth of the Game at Lakeview is a nonprofit foundation set up to grow the game of golf.  Our aim is to provide a safe, structured environment in which children can learn and respect the game of golf.  We strive to teach good sportsmanship, etiquette, and the rules of golf to all ages.  Throughout the summer, Lakeview Golf Course in Detroit Lakes offers a variety of clinics, camps, activities, golfing opportunities for our youth to be out on the course.  

2018 Highlights:

1) Funded a PGM (Professional Golf Management) student to help with daily course activities and teach juniors and ladies at Lakeview

2) Hosted a Drive, Chip, and Putt local qualifier.  The turnout was tremendous and we hope to host the Regional Qualifier in 2019

3) Hosted our Free 3rd Annual Growth of the Game weekend, where juniors received golf instruction on the range and putting course.  

2019 Goals:

1) Create a school curriculum that would bring indoor golf instruction to the elementary schools for grades K-5

2) Set up a Native American program for summer 2019

3) Start offering scholarships through the "Dollar for Scholars" program for those graduating seniors that have participated in the golf programs at Detroit Lakes High School
