Flyway Film Festival on Hiatus in 2020
The number thirteen has a reputation for bringing bad luck. This year would have been Flyway's thirteenth annual film festival. And the pandemic arrived...in our thirteenth year.
Earlier this year, the Flyway Film Society board and executive director discussed many possible scenarios for continuation of the film festival this year. We concluded we needed to cancel this year's festival and marshal our resources for 2021.
We've also decided that an online festival does not fit the Flyway's mission. One of the most important elements of our mission is to bring people together. When we can do that again safely, we'll pick up where we left off.
On the brighter side...We're optimistic about 2021 -- but we still need your support!
We look at this unlucky thirteenth year as an opportunity to take stock of our past accomplishments and our goals for the future. All the exciting new ideas we've had since last year are still in play.
But we are significantly affected because we don’t have access to our traditional funding sources. We are managing our finances prudently and we expect we’ll survive, unlike many other nonprofits. We still need financial support to keep our lights on.
We depend on your generosity now more than ever.
Thanks to all of you for being part of the Flyway community. We're deeply grateful for your friendship and support over the years, and we look forward to seeing your actual faces again soon.
