Family Fest's vision is to provide transformational experiences for families and individuals who seek to grow in their Christian faith. We present a variety of family camps, couples retreats, youth retreats, presentations, family service opportunities, and cooperative church programs to help families bring their Christian faith into everyday life.
Our Values
Family-focused: Our vision is to reach out to families, to nurture their lives of faith by giving them time together to love and better understand God and each other.
Christ-Centered: Jesus Christ, as our Lord and God, is the center of all we do, our source for all love, wisdom, peace, and hope that we seek to bring into the lives of all our ministry touches.
Biblically-Based: The word of God in the Bible is our authority and direction, and we seek to follow His will in all we do.
Multi-denominational: The ministry of Family Fest includes all who seek to know and follow Jesus Christ as Lord. Our programs focus on what we have in common in the body of Christ, as we seek to collaborate with churches on faith-nurturing activities for families, marriages, and youth.
Servant Leadership: Family Fest is a ministry by families, to families, encouraging and equipping volunteers to share in the ministry of Jesus Christ in their own way, in their daily life and family.
Innovative & Passionate: Family Fest seeks to provide the best that God has to offer in our programs and message, with an emphasis on excellence, fun, and expanding the scope of family ministry so that God’s work through us is exciting and inviting to all.
A Little History:
In the winter of 1997, a group of 10 couples who had been part of a Bible study group in Minneapolis, MN, decided to have a retreat that would include their entire families. Following the retreat, they knew that they had to do it again, but next time, they needed to invite other families to join them. The following year five new families joined. Two years later, over 50 families came to what became known as Winter Weekend.
In 2000, the group was organized as a 501(c)3 organization called Family Fest. In that same year, a second family camp experience was added for a week in the summer, called Summer Splash. As the ministry continued to grow, the board realized that it needed to expand its vision. In the fall of 2002, Pete Larson was hired as Family Fest’s Executive Director.
From that first winter retreat, Family Fest has expanded adding a summer camp, family mission projects, retreats for married couples, retreats for engaged couples as well as opportunities for both jr. & sr. high youth to go to camps and hear the Gospel message.
We hope that you too will be part of the history of Family Fest as a participant or supporter!
