Faith in Action in Red Wing

There is a plaque beside a bell at the Rochester Mayo radiation treatment center. It reads (RING OUT” * “RING THIS BELL THREE TIMES WELL, THE TOLL TO CLEARLY SAY * MY TREATMENTS ARE DONE, ITS COURSE HAS RUN AND I AM ON MY WAY).

Faith In Action provides local transportation assistance in Red Wing an average of 40 plus times every week, and79% of these trips are for medical purposes.  The out-of-town rides are restricted to assistance for radiation treatments only. However they often necessitate 5 rides a week for 5 or 6 weeks, and can be a very daunting challenge to the individual or family members. We work with the family and the rider’s faith community to see the rider can make every appointment Volunteer Gary Christiansen has made multiple trips to Rochester, and finds the day the rider gets to ring the bell especially rewarding.
