Empower House, Inc. is a non-profit transitional, sober, safe housing alternative and sober support cafe

that serves adult females and males who are in early recovery from drug and alcohol abuse or

dependence.

“Addiction is a complex disease that requires comprehensive care and an adequate existing infrastructure…

A patient’s personal commitment to a lifetime of sobriety is an important piece of the puzzle, but so is

access to resources. While Minnesota, particularly the urban areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul, receive

federal funding to treat addiction, it’s not enough to address the epidemic effectively…”

At Empower House, we believe that everyone deserves a second chance at life.  Our vision is to create a

supportive environment that offers transitional residential housing and expanded resources for moving

forward in your recovery.  We understand that the journey to recovery can be fraught with challenges, and

our mission is to bridge the potentially devastating gaps in ongoing care, resources accessibility and

recovery networking.  By providing excellent, accessible, sustainable and compassionate services, we are

committed to empowering men and women as they reclaim their lives by creating a nurturing community

that fosters healing and hope.

Empower House will be endorsed by Pine County and be an approved provider of Housing Supports.

Housing Supports is a state funded program that pays for room and board costs across the state for adults

with low income who have a disability. This funding will cover all the necessary costs of running the home,

as well as keep it staffed 24 hours per day.

We plan to house 6- 8 residents in each house and offer an engaging environment, encouragement,

support, life coaching, counseling by licensed alcohol and drug professionals, counseling by mental health

professional, 24-hour supervision, medication reminders, assistance with transportation, meeting and

appointment arrangements, medical and social services arrangements, overall nurturing of the mind, body,

spirit.

Homelessness in Minnesota climbed 4.5 percent in 2017 compared to the year before, according to estimates

released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

We are a small, rural community with a population of 3,123. American Fact finder, United States Census Bureau

documents that 22.6% of its residents live below the national poverty level. 23% of our population does not have

a high school diploma, or the equivalent. Poverty and lack of education is the leading recipe for the continued

use of mood-altering substances.
