"Until we get equality in education, we won't have an equal society." -Sonia Sotomayor
In a recent three year study of 13-19 year old victims of suicide in a large metropolitan area, 100% of the youth had signs of a reading disability and/or ineffective reading intervention. Taking care of our children means that we teach ALL to read.
Dyslexia Advocates helps families, schools, and communities create a roadmap for successfully navigating life with dyslexia and reading difficulties. Our mission is to reach students and families who may be at risk of falling through the cracks of our current educational system and advocating for a fundamental change in how literacy is typically taught in our schools.
We offer:
Dyslexia Screening and Assessment on a sliding fee basis.
Peer to Peer parent advocacy, networking opportunities and support.
We seek to increase understanding and empathy through educational events and dyslexia simulations in communities throughout MN.
Tuition scholarships for teachers and community members who seek education in evidence-based approaches in teaching literacy and reading remediation are available throughout the year.
Please consider a donation this season. Helping a child to read might just save their life.
