Detroit Mountain Recreation Area, Inc. is a  501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.

The Mission of Detroit Mountain Recreation Area, Inc. is to promote sound environmental recreation and educational programming to develop the health and wellness of children, families and communities.

We want to share our passion for skiing along with the experience of gliding on snow and the joy it brings. We aim to provide access to everything that Detroit Mountain has to offer to children and families that may have financial hardship.

We are very fortunate to be able to offer an outlet for a safe and healthy outdoor experience to so many. The only way that we are able to provide this valuable experience for the kids and families of our communities is through donations made by generous people, which is then in turn matched by DMRA. 

Detroit Mountain's Ski Angel Program partners with several other non-profits and schools to give children and families in Detroit Lakes and the surrounding areas access to winter recreation, with a goal to expand our reach into summer months. 

Since first forming in 2014, the Ski Angel Program has provided:

• 3,618 discounted lift tickets, rentals and instruction to 32 area schools including the Fargo-Moorhead and Grand Forks area.
• 768 free lift tickets, rentals and instruction to area schools including the Fargo-Moorhead and Grand Forks area.
• 114 scholarships to families and individuals for season passes that include rentals and group lessons all season long.
• 1,1007 free meals to students on field trips that qualify for free or reduced lunch to help relieve the pressure on schools.
• 1,089 free lift tickets and rentals to other non-profits including the Boys & Girls Club, Becker County Human Services, SKI Duck, DL Public Schools and the Kinship Program at Lakes Crisis Center.
