Families helping families. Your donation helps families become self sufficient in small rural communities in central Minnesota.

Depot Studios at Someday Isle in Isle, MN, has been building community in Central Minnesota for over ten years.Families in the small rural communities it serves are building their own new ventures.

In 1997 weaving in an Applied Arts studio was used to develop soft skills in clients at a transitional housing site where their success led to a public retail/weaving site in the nearby tourist town of Wahkon, MN (1999).  In 2001 the site lease was terminated and the project moved to a storefront in Isle,MN, where the focus became sales of local product and arts based activities for youth and community. New weavers have developed and a rich area wide environment for product development  and weaving as a practice has emerged.

 

Support to individuals in all cases is support to provide the necessary good information (training), equipment and materials for introduction to production of a product (IT,  tangible items, intangible benefits in the community) that is consistent with the needs of the community for services and the region for environmental and industry workforce. 

 

Your “Families helping families"  dollars give people the opportunity to learn a skill, develop a product, while giving support to others in the community where they live. They can take the benefit of their own labor home with them AND leave it to benefit others who follow them.

The change in your pocket on any given day can support change for the future  in the lives of 100 families.

 

Your contribution supports geographically disadvantaged people who are developing local economies through product development.

Our $250 project puts american made "surplus" materials and local entrepreneurs together for training, product development.
