No judgments, just help.

Our motto shines light on the philosophy that helps Daryeel Youth Services (DYS) meet young people wherever they are in their daily struggle to overcome homelessness, opioid use disorder, exposure to street crime, and lack of opportunity

These simple, profound words exemplify our warm embrace of youth and young adults, particularly those on a difficult path to adulthood. Daryeel Youth Services' volunteer-supported efforts every Friday night in the Cedar Riverside Neighborhood for the past eight years have made young people feel welcome as we provide for their basic needs, and offer them hope and resources to help them rise above their challenges.

Not just words, also deeds.

Every week, we offer vulnerable youth:

  • hot pizza and tea
  • honest conversation with caring adults
  • personal hygiene items
  • referrals to housing
  • assistance obtaining health care coverage
  • bus passes
  • help navigating the criminal justice system and restorative justice options; and
  • referral to treatment when they are ready.

Seasonally, we also provide cold weather clothing. Quarterly, we schedule a mobile clinic to provide healthcare checkups and primary care services.

For more than four hundred consecutive Friday nights, in heat, cold, rain or snow, we have been on Cedar Avenue because our young friends count on DYS’ staff and volunteers to help sustain them with these supports. We too often hear that we provide the only hot meal they will enjoy all week.

Daryeel Youth Services, community partners and government.

We have collaborated with an expanding network of community partners to grow our capacity in Cedar Riverside and extend our reach well beyond. We have a four-year history conducting outreach, education, and resource referrals for young people and their families with dedicated funding from city, county, and state government projects that have impacted the lives of thousands of youth, parents, family and community members each of the past four years.

Our educational forum at Augsburg University, the Daryeel Youth Services Annual Youth Summit in May held its fourth conference bringing together young people, parents, and other community members not only in person, but via the internet from across Minnesota and around the world.

For Hooyo (For Mother) DYS’s youth anti-gun violence program brings education, awareness and healing to young people, mothers and families in the Twin Cities directly impacted by gun violence.

Not only for today, also for tomorrow’s bright future.

How can you help us continue our progress?

Your tax-deductible donation of $40, $75, $100 or more to Daryeel Youth Services provides crucial operational support that allows us the flexibility to spend resources where they are needed most as we continue our steady growth as a highly trusted organization for the communities and funders we serve.

Whether it funds program or staff development, or general business operations, your support will allow us to fully leverage grant and contract money for the valuable programs and resources that encourage and empower youth to be healthy, self-sufficient members of our community.

Please join us as a financial partner to invest in the wellbeing and success of deserving youth and young adults in Cedar Riverside and throughout the Twin Cities.

Young people are our future and you are a key member of their support team!
