Carver Scott Humane Society
Connecting animals in need with people who care.

Carver Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved. Your support provides refuge, medical care, foster homes, and families to animals in need.

With your meaningful support, we will continue to provide every animal - and person -  in our path with love, care, and advocacy.

About US

Adopter's Welcome: We pride ourselves on respecting people as much as animals. At Carver Scott Humane Society, we are lowering adoption barriers so good people can adopt good pets. We do this by approaching adoptions from a place of yes. Instead of rigorous applications and policies, we use conversation-based methods.

Fur Keeps: We help keep pets with their owners through the good times and the bad by providing resources, assistance and training to help families and pets stay together. From consulting and training, to providing funds for emergency surgeries, to helping families through hardship by providing pet food, we are here for you - judgement free - so you don't have to say goodbye.

Partnerships: There's only one way to help animals - together. We partner with many other MN rescues and organizations including Leech Lake Legacy, Safe Hands Rescue,
Northwoods Animal Rescue, and Animal Humane Society to best serve animals and the people who love them. Additionally, we partner with overwhelmed and crowded shelters in other parts of the country who need our help.

Community: We're committed to our community. As the only animal shelter in southwestern MN, we know our community relies on us for finding their new best friend, answering their questions about pet ownership, offering rewarding opportunities to work and volunteer with animals, as well as providing resources like pet food. We supply pet food and supplies to Bountiful Baskets Food Shelf in Eastern Carver County and the Community Action Partnership in Shakopee.

We are committed to working collaboratively with our community and rescue partners to provide refuge, medical care, foster homes, and a second chance to animals in need. We work with a dedicated team of over 200 volunteers to provide foster-based care to animals before they are adopted into a new home. Additionally, we have a cat adoption space at our Animal Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart and Chuck & Don's to feature adoptable cats in their stores and host adoption events.

Carver Scott Humane Society (CSHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Chaska.
