Since last year’s Give to the Max Day, 2,085 pets and the 770 people who love them have received affordable, compassionate veterinary care through the Crossroads Community Veterinary Clinic

We’ve expanded our reach by launching a Community Cat Sterilization Program, providing an essential, affordable option for spay and neuter services. Our TNR program is designed to serve barn, shop, and property owners who are looking to manage single or small groups of felines on their property.

We’ve also added another veterinarian to meet the growing needs of our community, because the demand for affordable, accessible veterinary care continues to rise.

As we enter a new year, we know that affordability and access to care remain major challenges for many families. That’s why we’re taking bold steps forward.

In early 2026, we will be introducing new wellness plan options with affordable monthly payments — some as low as $25 per month — that cover veterinary visits, core vaccines, deworming, diagnostics, and preventative medications. These plans help pet owners plan and avoid unexpected costs while ensuring their pets receive the care they deserve.

Also starting in early 2026, we are proud to launch our new Shared Value Pricing model, a compassionate, inclusive approach to care. Through this model, we continue to offer

• Reduced Fee Programs for those who qualify by income

• Standard Fees that remain affordable for all

Animals have an incredible way of touching our hearts. They bring unconditional love, laughter, and comfort into our lives. At Crossroads Animal Shelter, we’re reminded every single day how powerful that bond truly is, and how deeply it connects us as a community

This year, we’ve faced challenges like never before. Rising costs of medicine, supplies, and veterinary care, paired with a dip in adoptions and donations, have stretched our small but mighty shelter to its limits. When we shared this with you in September, we were humbled by your incredible response. The outpouring of generosity reminded us just how much this community cares — and how much we can accomplish when we come together for the animals who depend on us.

Because of you, 2025 has been an amazing year of impact.

• 595 animals found their forever homes — 214 dogs and 361 cats.
• Our placement rate remains an incredible 95%, one of the highest among shelters.
• We’ve continued our partnership with Leech Lake Legacy, helping animals in one of the most underserved areas of Minnesota. 
• We continue to serve local Minnesota animals with the most need.

Crossroads may be small, but our mission is mighty. Every animal that comes through our doors receives complete care -from vaccinations and sterilization to diagnostics, surgeries, and rehabilitation. That means hundreds of hours of hands-on care and thousands of dollars each week spent ensuring every pet is healthy, safe, and ready for a loving home. And we do it because we know: if we weren’t here, many of them wouldn’t be either.
