Create CommUNITY

Originally known as the Mayor's Racial Harmony Team, this community movement started through the office of the Mayor in St. Cloud. Since that time, Create CommUNITY has grown to become a leadership team that includes other cities and counties, a broad base of area businesses and organizations, and many interested individuals - all partnering to make our community the best it can be, for all who call central Minnesota home! 

Since it's beginning, Create CommUNITY has been addressing racial and other human rights issues in central Minnesota. As of 2022, it became a stand-alone 501(c)(3) non profit organization, allowing it to rocket into further support and success for equity advancements and belonging initiatives in the community. Create CommUNITY's mission has been and still is to dismantle racism through systemic change.  Our vision is to be a catalyst and resource in creating a welcoming, anti-discriminatory environment with respect and opportunity for all.

Among other activities and advocacy, Create CommUNITY's signature event is the annual Conversation on Race. In 2025, Create CommUNITY was asked to take the lead on the annual MLK Community Celebration as well, and proudly helps lead community teams to offer both events that name, uphold and celebrate the diversity of our community and the goals of justice sought here!  (You can learn more about both events on our website at https://www.createcommunitystcloud.org)
