2022 Year in Review
The end of the year is upon us once again, and with that we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of our organization and community. We have had a year of growth at Conexiones and would like to share a recap of our work during 2022 and what we are looking forward to in the year to come.
This year we again had a strong focus on the health and safety of our community. With the collaboration of fellow nonprofit organizations, a local health care clinic, the sheriff's office, and Stevens County Ambulance we were able to host Spanish language presentations and trainings on car seat safety, navigating healthcare in the US, emergency safety, and CPR skills.
We also concentrated on growing our offerings in the area of community activities. We offered a number of community building activities during the summer and fall including a community walk, potluck, kayaking, and a trip to an apple orchard and farm. Conexiones Day, our annual festival, expanded this year to include more family friendly activities, such as a balloon twister, face painting, a 4-H farm animal exhibit, local vendors and more.
We continued working with local schools on language and cultural support at events such as open houses and parent-teacher conferences. We also provided three area schools with a collection of Spanish language textbooks, distributed school supplies to families in need, and organized a college information night.
This year brought exciting changes with the permanent addition of our Assistant Director, Alma Contreras, as well as new board member Darinel Espinosa. As members of the Swift County community, they have been instrumental in the expansion of our service area into Swift County.
As this year winds down, we are looking forward to another year of growth and connecting with our community. Families new to the community can still find support by visiting our office. We meet with new community members to provide them with resources and information on local services. We also give welcome baskets to new families and have developed guides and tools to help answer frequently asked questions.
We will continue working on developing our four focus areas, with a specific emphasis on strengthening our presence and programming in Swift County while maintaining the strong program that is already established in Stevens County. We look forward to a year of new connections and opportunities.
We are grateful for your generosity and all you do to support our efforts and our community.
Sincerely,
Autumn Macias
