College Possible is making college admission and success possible for students from low-income backgrounds through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support.
We envision a day when a student’s future is determined solely by their talent, motivation and effort.
A four-year college degree is the surest path out of poverty: College graduates are 24% more likely to be employed and 3.5 times less likely to rely on public assistance.
In the United States only 32% of students from low-income backgrounds graduate from college, compared to 71% of their high-income peers. Those who do not earn degrees are likely to stay in poverty for their entire lives, raising children who face the same financial constraints. This cycle has consequences for individuals as well as the broader economic future of our country, which is already experiencing an unmet need for an educated workforce.
College Possible focuses on closing this degree divide through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support for low-income students. Our students, who have incredible degrees of talent and ambition, enroll in college and earn degrees at a rate that now nearly matches that of students of all income levels. Further, College Possible students are three times more likely to earn a bachelor’s degree than their peers from similar backgrounds.
