Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis has been part of the community since 1952. Our mission is to bring free, enriching orchestra music to the Twin Cities community, while providing amateur and semi-professional musicians with a platform to perform great orchestral music. We aim to foster a love of music by offering great performances of both new and familiar pieces and by creating a space for musicians and audiences to share memorable experiences.

As we begin our 73rd season, we embark on a new era for the orchestra under the direction of a new Music Director, and performing in a new space.

  • Dr. Matthew J. George joins us as Music director for the 2025-26 season, and has designed a season program that highlights well-known works from the classical repertoire while also exploring lesser known composers, a variety of styles, and different eras of music.
  • Having outgrown our last performance venue -- a great problem to have! -- we sought a new venue and are happy to call St. Michael's Lutheran Church Bloomington our new home. With a large sanctuary and ample parking, this space will help us welcome new and returning audience members, and we are excited to expand our reach!

New adventures in music and expanding to a larger venue are exciting developments, but they also come with increased costs. Since our beginning, we have relied on the generous donations from our audience, never charging admission to concerts -- and that won't change. Your donation now will make a difference in the health of the organization that will reverberate for seasons to come. Please consider giving to the Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis today and supporting us as we come together again to share the music we love.
