City of Lakes Community Band

Your support will allow us to continue to provide free public band concerts throughout the year.

The City of Lakes Community Band is dedicated to encouraging adult amateur musicianship and providing continuing music education for its members; supporting music education in the Minneapolis Public Schools; and stimulating the appreciation of band music by providing free public band concerts. The City of Lakes Community Band (formerly the Calhoun-Isles Community Band) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1981. Our repertoire includes classical, jazz and modern concert band compositions, as well as old favorites such as Broadway musical scores and John Philip Sousa marches.

Performance Highlight: The City of Lakes Community Band is proud to be one of 38 ensembles participating in the commissioning consortium for this exciting new work by composer Kevin Day. Capricho received its world premiere in October 2024 by the Minnesota Symphonic Winds, marking the first public unveiling of the composer’s vibrant and imaginative score. The City of Lakes Community Band is honored to continue bringing this music to audiences with our performance on March 11, 2025, contributing to the life of the piece and its introduction to communities across the country.
