CHORUS POLARIS, a premiere community choral ensemble based in the Twin Cities, is comprised of more than 50 professional, semi-professional, and talented amateur singers.

Led by Artistic Director William H. (Bill) Mathis, our repertoire spans nearly 1,000 years, from the Renaissance to jazz, to modern and traditional choral masterworks. Understanding the unique role the arts play in sustaining strong communities, Chorus Polaris touches the lives of people through artistic excellence that engages audiences, and shares and celebrates the human experience through music.

Our Mission

Our mission is to engage, connect, and strengthen communities through collaboration and educational outreach.

Our goal is the pursuit of choral excellence that engages audiences while sharing and celebrating the human experience through music.

Our vision is a world in which communities support, collaborate, and care for everyone while respecting each person’s individuality.

2024-25 Season

Chorus Polaris, in collaboration with the Minnesota State Band, premiered two new works in a Nov. 3 concert: "My People Shall Be One," by local composer Robert J. Maderich, II; and, "Sing Me to Heaven" by Ken Medema.

Now singers are beginning extensive preparations for spring performances of W.A. Mozart's "Requiem." Chorus Polaris - together with Mississippi Valley Orchestra and Westwood Lutheran Church's A Cappella choir - will perform the "Requiem" April 6th (Benson Hall at Bethel University) and April 13th (Westwood Lutheran Church).

The 2024-25 Chorus Polaris season culminates  in a collaboration with StreetSong MN - an exciting choir comprised of persons 'experienced in homelessness' (i.e. persons currently or formerly homeless and those who care about them). Through its music, Streetsong MN presents an opportunity for engagement in the cause of ending homelessness. And we have a special guest with us - Ken Medema is coming in from the West Coast to bring his gifts of improvisation and musical storytelling, and will delight and inspire both audience and performers!
