Centro Guadalupano’s mission is “to be companions on the journey with immigrant families and the economically disadvantaged by providing educational programs and human services.” Providing opportunities is what our work is about - The opportunity to get a better job, to communicate with a child’s teacher, to feel pride in achieving a higher score in math, to know that you are can succeed!

Centro Guadalupano provides opportunities for success in four program areas:

English Language Learner (ELL) program: Volunteer led English classes provide the language skills needed for adults to improve their employment opportunities and for parents to communicate more effectively with their children’s schools. Open enrollment and a flexible attendance policy meet a critical need for adults whose frequently changing work schedules and family commitments make it difficult to attend other language schools.

Out of School Time (OST) Enrichment: A blend of academic enrichment with recreational and cultural arts inspires improved social behavior and academic achievement for Latino youth in grades K - 8. The cornerstone of our programming and what makes us unique is the incorporation of cultural arts into our daily after school activities. We believe that the discipline required to learn a musical instrument or perform a drama translates into improved confidence that will enhance academic performance.

Outreach: Individuals receive assistance with food, housewares and clothing to meet immediate needs. Meeting basic needs can help stabilize a family during a crisis as well as provide the support they may need to pursue educational and work opportunities.

Health and Wellness: Regular health events, ongoing education, and referrals to health service providers ensures that individuals without health insurance receive early treatment to avoid more costly interventions. We promote healthy lifestyles through weekly fitness classes for adults, structured physical activity for children in the after school program, and the promotion of good nutrition and healthy beverage choices.
