YOUR VISION SUSTAINS OUR EXCELLENCE

Gifts to the Cathedral Education Foundation endowment are a long-term investment in the stability and permanency of Cathedral. Endowment funds are permanent funds that provide the school with earned income while retaining the principal. Thanks to the generosity of individuals, our endowment assets total approximately $13 million as of July 1, 2021.

Each year, a portion of the earned income generated by the school’s endowment is awarded as scholarships to families with financial needs as well as to help fund the operating budget—whichever the donor determines at the time they make their gift.

These gifts are essential to what Cathedral is able to accomplish. We welcome and encourage contributions to core endowment funds and donor designated funds.

WAYS TO SUPPORT CATHEDRAL'S ENDOWMENT

  • Unrestricted Endowment
Unrestricted endowments to The Cathedral Education Foundation provide Cathedral with earned income each year to enhance education programming or best use as determined by Cathedral leadership. These funds give the school maximum flexibility to accomplish strategic priorities and sustain the excellence of its programs. Opportunities exist to create named unrestricted endowment funds.
  • Designated Use Endowment
Designated Use endowments to The Cathedral Education Foundation provide Cathedral with earned income each year to support specific school needs as designated by the donor. Donors may wish to fund a specific field of interest such as theater, science, music, or the arts. A donor may make a gift in any amount to an existing fund, or create their own fund with a $25,000 minimum gift or multi-year pledge.
  • Donor Designated Endowment
Donors may establish a fund in their name with a minimum gift or pledge of $25,000. This Donor Designated Fund, i.e., “The Smith Family Scholarship Fund,” has the flexibility to distribute both interest and principal to a designated use in accord with the donor’s intent at the time the fund was established. The Cathedral Education Foundation has over 128 Donor Designated Funds as of March 1, 2020.
