Estamos aquí. Esperanza United, formerly Casa de Esperanza, is here. These are unprecedented times and we are committed to doing everything we can to keep our community of survivors, staff, partners, service providers, and advocates safe and healthy. The work we do together to support the Latin@ community in building healthy relationships and families is as critical as ever.

Locally, estamos aquí para la comunidad. Our commitment will not waver. Our Refugio (shelter) remains open as we continue to adjust to the new normal. Our bilingual, state-wide hotline is uninterrupted, providing a lifeline to survivors who need help now more than ever. And our nation-wide training, policy, and research initiatives continue to provide far-reaching results, spreading hope and best practices in the uncertain days and months to follow.

With families sheltering in place, domestic violence is on the rise, worldwide. For many, home is not a safe place and too many survivors are finding themselves without a break or even any physical distance from an abusive partner. The cost - the violence, the emotional toll - to individuals is severe.

In times like these, we must rally around advocates and other helpers and ensure the community that emerges after this pandemic is stronger and more just. That’s why we’re asking you to make a donation to Esperanza United today. Your support will help ensure that Latin@s’ unique needs are met, our strengths incorporated into the emerging models, and our insights are valued.

Please donate today.

Together, we can create a community of love, trust, and respect.

Esperanza United is a national Latina organization with a mission to mobilize Latinas and Latin@ communities to end gender-based violence.

Throughout our history, Esperanza United has put community at the center of everything we do. We were founded in 1982 by a small group of Latina activists to provide emergency shelter for Latinas and other women and children experiencing domestic violence. Today, as we continue providing critical and innovative services in our Twin Cities communities, we are also recognized as a leader in the domestic violence field and a culturally specific national resource center for organizations working with Latin@s.

Our local programs range from family advocacy and shelter services to support survivors to Fuerza Unida leadership development and community engagement opportunities for Latin@ youth, women and men who want to end the behaviors that lead to domestic violence and sexual assault. Our national initiative shapes public policy, research, and best practices in the field of domestic violence and provides training and consultations to practitioners and activists throughout the U.S., as well as in Latin America.

Please join with us in saying, "DECIMOS NO MÁS/We Say No More to violence in our communities."
