Camp Onomia: A Place to Belong, Believe, and Become

A child finds the courage to try something new. A teenager discovers they aren't alone. A family reconnects around a campfire. These moments may seem small, but they can change how we see ourselves, our neighbors, and God's love. Since 1949, Camp Onomia has created space for people of all ages to encounter Christ through Creation and Community, build meaningful relationships, and discover they belong.

Help us Imagine More! Our Give to the Max goal is to raise $10,000 toward our $50,000 year-end goal. Will you make a gift today to help keep this ministry accessible for generations to come?

More Than a Place to Stay

Camp Onomia is an outdoor ministry rooted in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and open to all. We create opportunities for people to grow in faith, strengthen relationships, reconnect with Creation, and experience the joy of being part of a community.

  • For a child, camp might be the first place they discover they can lead.
  • For a teenager, it might be a place to ask honest questions and find adults who listen.
  • For a family, it might be the chance to step away from busy schedules and reconnect.
  • For a congregation, it might be a place to nurture faith across generations.
  • For a retreat guest, it might be the space they need to rest, reflect, and return home renewed.

Through summer camps, retreats, congregational gatherings, volunteer opportunities, and year-round hospitality, we nurture the connections that help people flourish in faith and life.

Every person arrives with a different story. We make room for all of them.

Will you help us by giving today?

A Ministry Stitched Together by Community

Camp Onomia has been shaped by generations of people who believe this ministry matters.

Volunteers have cared for the grounds. Donors have made camp accessible to more families. Congregations have sent their children, supported our mission, and gathered here to grow in faith. Staff members have shared their gifts, and countless people have given their time, creativity, prayers, and resources.

Like a quilt made of many individual pieces, Onomia is stronger because of the people who are part of it. We believe the future of this ministry is not built by one person or one organization alone. It grows when a community comes together around something bigger than itself. That is why we work to practice radical hospitality, remain grounded in faith, act with intention, and stay open to the people and possibilities God places before us.

Your Generosity Makes Room for More

Outdoor ministry takes more than beautiful trees, a welcoming lake, and a place to gather. It takes people who care, buildings that are maintained, equipment that works, meals shared around tables, thoughtful programming, and financial support that keeps opportunities within reach.

Camp fees cover only part of the true cost of providing these experiences. Your giving, plus the generosity of donors, congregations, volunteers, and ministry partners, helps bridge the gap, care for our facilities, support our staff, and make camp possible for people who might otherwise be unable to attend.

When you give to Camp Onomia, you are investing in more than a building, a program, or a summer experience.

  • You are helping a child discover their gifts.
  • You are creating space for a young person to grow in faith and confidence.
  • You are giving a congregation a place to reconnect.
  • You are caring for a place where people can rest, build relationships, and experience the presence of God in Creation.
  • You are helping ensure that the next generation has the opportunity to experience the same sense of belonging that has shaped lives here for generations.
  • Your gift helps make room for the next story, the next connection, and the next life-changing moment.

Imagine More

We believe God is always at work, inviting us to imagine more than we can see today. More opportunities for children and youth to grow. More spaces for people to find rest and belonging. More ways to care for Creation. More connections between congregations and communities. More people discovering that they are loved by God and welcomed at Camp Onomia.

That future is something we build together.

Help us imagine more. Give Today.
