This year has reminded us that progress is rarely a straight line. Yet through every twist and turn, one thing has remained constant at CAAL: our belief in the power of community—our power—to keep showing up, keep striving, and keep walking, step by step, toward a more just and prosperous future.

We’ve celebrated inspiring milestones that show what’s possible when we act together, from exciting leadership and civic engagement momentum with Kaohly Her to the bold innovations of our CAAL Ignite grantees. These victories remind us that change is within reach when our community leads the way.

We’ve also weathered setbacks that underscore how much work remains. Cuts in funding and threats to community safety, continued underinvestment in our diverse communities, and ongoing challenges in immigration have all pushed us to recommit to the road ahead.

Twelve years after community members first came together to build CAAL, these highs and lows make one thing clear: our mission is still urgently needed—and our collective impact is as powerful as ever.
