Did you know that 1 in 15 Minnesota children will lose a parent or sibling by the time they are 18? Nationally, this number is 1 in 12. Imagine being in such a life-changing time of life and experiencing the unimaginable pain of saying good-bye to your family member. Then, imagine going back to school and not having your friends or teachers know how to support you. The isolation that comes alongside childhood grief can be devastating.
In honor of Children's Grief Awareness Month in November, we are asking our dedicated supporters to help us create awareness while raising funds for our mission over the next 30 days.
Brighter Days Family Grief Center has provided FREE grief support and services to over 8,000 individuals since our founding in 2017. We are a proud anchor in our community, granting over $77,000 in financial assistance.
As the catalyst to bringing Children's Grief Awareness Day (November 16th) to Minnesota, Brighter Days is a dedicated advocate for grieving children, young adults, and entire families.
Whether attending our grief camps, support groups, counseling sessions, or meaningful events and workshops, families facing the death or terminal diagnosis of a loved one find hope and healing through our no cost services.
Our financial assistance program through our Embrace-A-Family fund provides basic necessities towards the overwhelming logistics of housing, groceries, tuition, and extra-curricular activities.
Additionally, Brighter Days hosts free workshops for educational institutions and organizations to help provide a compassionate transition back into the school or workplace for grievers after the death of a loved one.
Your monetary support helps us sustain our free and life-changing programming, and we hope you will consider donating today!
To learn how you can get involved, read the press release HERE or watch our video below with grief advocate and former Kare 11 anchor, Bryan Piatt.
Here are examples of how your donation can support grieving children and families; no amount is too small!
Your $300 donation sends one little griever to our free youth grief camp where they get to be sad AND silly without feeling judged. 💙
