The Burnsville-Minnesota Valley Figure Skating Club is a fully sanctioned member club of U.S. Figure Skating . Our club has been operating as a non-profit, volunteer based, community organization, teaching skating, for over 40 years. We are dedicated to the advancement of figure skating and to the cultivation of a spirit of fraternity among the members and the figure skating community at large.
We offer the following Programs:
- Junior Club skaters meet once a week to focus on levels of Learn to Skate USA. In the process they have fun and make lifelong friends. Each Junior Club session includes a 20 minute workout, small group lesson with a Club Pro, a private lesson with a Club Pro and supervised practice time. Junior Club provides young skaters skills and confidence to perform in their first skating competitions.
- Senior Club welcomes skaters who have tested out of the Junior Club levels, and would like to continue their skating career. Skaters select a coach and work closely with them to set goals and determine the adequate amount of skating and lessons required to achieve these goals. Senior Club provides skaters the opportunity to learn programs and compete year round in the following events: freestyle, spins, jumps, compulsory, ice dance and artistic. Competitions can be as close as the Twin Cities or take you out of the metro or even the state. Senior Club offers 60 minute freestyle sessions and 30 minute field moves sessions, Monday through Saturday. Also available are Ice Dance sessions, power and edge classes and off-ice conditioning.
- Synchronized Skating (Synchro) involves a team of 8–20 skaters, performing various complex, fast-moving elements in unison, choreographed to music. A highly technical, as well as beautiful form of figure skating, Synchro is characterized by speed, accuracy, complex formations and breathtaking transitions. The camaraderie, team work and dedication that goes in to preparing for and participating in Synchro provides an excellent opportunity for skaters to build lifelong memories and friendship. Team Velocity competes 3-4 times a year and skates in exhibitions.
