For 56 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota has been helping kids feel seen, supported, and empowered through life-changing mentoring relationships. 

Journi is one of those kids. 

When she was first matched, Journi was looking for extra support-someone to help her build confidence, navigate school challenges, and believe in her own potential. With the steady encouragement of her Big Duo, Rachel and Yang, she began to grow in ways that truly mattered. Mentorship has helped Journi find her voice. She has learned how to speak up and advocate for herself. She has gained tools to tackle tough homework and build positive communication skills. And with each new experience she’s gone on with her Big Duo - whether it is fishing, trying new foods, or meeting a French Hmong pastry chef - her confidence blossomed. Today, with the steady support of her Big Duo, Journi is setting goals, exploring new interests, and dreams of becoming a cosmetologist. She believes in herself. And that belief is the foundation for everything that comes next.
