The Senior Activity Center is committed to providing opportunities for seniors to stay active, engaged and connected to their community

The Senior Activity Center began in 1962 under When some seniors were getting together to play cards at an ice skating shack in Bemidji, Minnesota. Since those humble beginnings the center has blossomed in to an organization that supports active seniors in all areas of life. Our partners include the LSS Senior Nutrition Program, United Way, and the AARP Tax Assistance Program. We offer many activities, including:
  • Weekly music jam sessions
  • Monthly dances
  • Programs for holidays like veterans Day
  • Exercise classes
  • Mahjong and other games
  • Bingo
  • Generations Read - where senior volunteers read with kids
  • Monthly Pancake Breakfast
  • Craft shop and crafting days
  • Classes on topics ranging from mental health to computers to painting
  • And so much more!
Our volunteer committees work hard to respond to the needs of our community. Our funding comes from the members, programs, grants and generous donations. We make the most of what we have. Every dollar given to the center comes back to members and the public many times over due to the hard work of our volunteers.
Please consider us as you give and thank you for reading our story!
