Friends of Beechwood, Inc.:

Like Jamie, you may not have anticipated how different life has been for the past 18 months.

Relying on his income to afford safe and stable housing during such remarkable times in our world, Jamie’s living environment had become very isolating. Including food and medications Jamie’s basic needs were being met, but Jamie had long wanted to be a part of a community.

Because of Beechwood’s hosted events and safe social gatherings, Jamie was able to find his community without barriers this year.  When Jamie’s depression symptoms made it difficult for him to connect with  friends and family, Jamie’s Mental Health practitioner taught coping skills to help him reach out.  In August, Beechwood was able to offer transportation to the state fair so Jamie could once again enjoy the great Minnesota get-together. Jamie also loved gardening and, in September, Beechwood offered a day at the Arboretum complete with healthy snacks and refreshments. As Jamie said, “I was stuck in my home too much and they helped get me out of the house. I’m planning to go to the Minnesota Zoo soon, and am looking forward to that!”

Beechwood’s intentional way of building community and inclusion is individualized for each client. For Jaime, Beechwood’s services meant that he could be part of his own community. Jamie’s confidence grew (along with his friendships) and, because of donors like you, Jamie had the tools he needed to not only own his life, but to find laughter again.

A gift to Beechwood, Inc. on Give to the Max Day, Thursday November 18, and in any meaningful amount can help provide supportive services, training, and advocacy to individuals like Jamie as he pursues a life full of opportunity.

Thank you for your kindness and for being in our community.
