Bay Area Historical Society

Residents created the Bay Area Historical Society in 1986 to collect, preserve and share knowledge about the history of the Bay Area (Silver Bay, Beaver Bay and surrounds) and relate it to the history of Lake County and the State of Minnesota.  We are funded in part by Lake County and the cities of Silver Bay and Beaver Bay however we rely mainly on donations and grants to sustain our operations.  Volunteers help with preservation activities, organization and writing projects, and will start soon on archiving our collection using the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums CollectiveAccess system.
