The Babinski Foundation: Rescue & Restore

Your generous gift has the power to change lives for shelter animals in need! Our mission is to rescue and restore abandoned and stray animals, giving each an opportunity for a new life and a loving home, through adoption and education. With your help, we've rescued over 10,475 animals since our opening in 2017, including 1,529 in 2025 alone.

We need your help more than ever this year. Due to increasing financial and housing hardships in our community, an increased stray population, and rising veterinary costs, our budget is severely strained, and our shelter is overflowing.

Licensed to care for up to 200 animals at a time, we are the largest shelter in the Brainerd Lakes area. We not only take in local surrenders and operate as a stray drop-off location for dogs and cats, but we also partner with rescues on the Leech Lake and Red Lake reservations. Through this outreach, we offer animal shelter, adoption services, and run a mobile clinic providing affordable spay/neuter and vaccination services to underserved areas.

As we expand our efforts into TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and continue to support local and national animal welfare, we desperately need your support. Our shelter is in urgent need of new cat housing and funding to sustain our veterinary clinic.

Last year, your incredible support helped us raise nearly $6,500. This year, we’re aiming higher than ever before: we need to triple our goal and raise $20,000 to continue to care for the animals.

• Fund a critical TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) program to control population and promote community health.

• Sustain the core operations that feed, shelter, and provide daily care for every animal that walks through our doors.
