ArtSage is part of a growing arts & aging movement that is enriching the lives of older adults, and revolutionizing the way we think about growing older.

Today’s older adults are not just enjoying the arts as spectators—they are joining their voices in song, improvising dances, telling their own stories, devising theater pieces, and creating paintings and sculptures.

ArtSage is a connector, convener, and catalyst for the field of arts & aging. We provide training for teaching artists and arts organizations, consulting services for senior facilities, and online resources in the field of arts & aging. Our work is based on the latest research that says older people involved in creating art, music, theater and dance not only feel better—they remain healthier and more independent, and live more meaningful lives.

We have been working to develop an ‘army’ of teaching artists who are trained to work with older adults in community settings and all kinds of care settings. So far we’ve trained 87 artists and 17 arts organizations who can now lead arts activities confidently with older adults all over Minnesota.

“Every time I do something with ArtSage, my work gets better
and my classes get more powerful and meaningful.
There is still so much to learn!”

Each year, more than 100,000 people across Minnesota are impacted by our work.

But we’d like to do more.

How can you help?

Support our programs and help us build SageConnect™, our revolutionary new Arts & Aging Directory—so that more teaching artists can find work with seniors and more seniors can enjoy high-quality arts experiences. . .
