ACBC Food Shelf

Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) has been a trusted community partner since 1971. Our mission is, "to provide emergency food, clothing, and resources to Anoka County residents and surrounding communities in need while maintaining the dignity of those we serve."  

On Give to the Max Day 2026, we're hoping you can help us reach our $100,000 goal!

ACBC averages 2,300 household visits per month (8,500+ individuals), and this number continues to grow daily. We work hard to provide our participants with not only the support they need, but an environment welcoming and inclusive of all.

In Minnesota, 1 in 5 households is experiencing food insecurity.   In 2025, ACBC programs provided 27,238 household visits (88,015 individual visits) with food, hygiene and household items. In 2026, the needs continue to rise.

Services provided:

• Food Shelf Market:  Participants shop for items they need e.g. fresh produce, meat, dairy, eggs, shelf-stable, bread, bakery, hygiene, pet food, and more.
• Outdoor Refrigerated Food Lockers:  Food locker pick up is as an alternative option to a monthly market appointment. Participants are able to place an order online up to 48 hours in advance to pick up food (perishable and nonperishable) from the outdoor temperature-controlled lockers during a flexible pick-up time. This new program launched in the spring of 2026!
• ACBC Meals on Wheels: Starting Nov. 1, ACBC will be launching the ACBC Meals on Wheels program which provides fresh, nutritious meals and connection to seniors and people with disabilities.
• Outreach Grocery Delivery: Monthly delivered groceries to home-bound seniors and those with disabilities.
• Weekly Program:  Weekly assistance for people who are experiencing homelessness or living in temporary housing.
• CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program):  Additional food and nutrition education to low-income adults ages 60+.
• Additional Food Access:  Extra opportunities for additional food e.g. produce distributions and community events.
• Summer Food Bags:  Child-favorites to help with the increased need of food during the summer months when children are home from school.
• Birthday Bags:  Themed birthday bags with toys and other birthday items for children ages 1-18.
• Thrift Store:  Free and low-cost clothing and household items.
• Community Outreach: Community visits to bring resources and information to focused areas.
• Resource Referral and Navigation:  Working with families to provide other needed resources.
