Anoka County Brotherhood Council was established in 1971 "To provide emergency food and clothing to Anoka County residents in need while maintaining the dignity of those we serve."

Post-pandemic we are back to regular services with families shopping for themselves.  Unfortunately, with inflation and the rising cost of food and gas, our community needs us more than ever.  We are experiencing record-breaking visits, with 40% more families in the first quarter of 2022 over the first quarter of 2022.  This comes at a time when giving is down.

The services we provide are possible because of the support of our community.  Your dollars are vital as it allows us to stretch financial donations into more help for families – often purchasing 10 times the food compared to retail prices.

In addition to our food shelf market, we:

  • Deliver food orders each month to home-bound seniors and individuals
  • Provide a weekly service for more targeted assistance to our homeless participants
  • Provide children birthday bags packed with toys, books, and other birthday items
  • Provide Summer Food Bags filled with child-favorites to help with the increased need of food during the summer for families of school-aged children
  • Coordinate additional food access opportunities such as produce distributions
  • Provide Thanksgiving Baskets to our neighbors
  • Run a free and low-cost Clothing Closet for clothing and household items
  • Provide low-income adults with additional food and nutrition education with our own CSFP Program
  • Provide resource referral and navigation assistance

The ACBC Food Shelf Board, staff, and volunteers, thank you for helping to make our programs a success!
