Hostelling International USA (HI USA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling. Founded in 1934, HI USA currently operates a network of 55 quality hostels across the United States with a wide range of engaging activities, events, and educational programs that enrich the travel experience and promote greater intercultural awareness and understanding.
Since 1955, staff and volunteers in Minnesota have been serving hostel members, hosting bicycle tours and offering travel classes to support our mission. Now, with our Regional office in St. Paul, we;
- Promote and operate the Mississippi Headwaters Hostel in Itasca State Park.
- Host the spring Minnesota Ironman Bicycle Ride (50th year in 2016).
- Host the summer Tour De Pines Bicycle Ride in Itasca Park.
- Offer monthly Traveler’s Circle programs with engaging speakers that encourage global travel.
We strive to provide great value for all we serve–be it a hostel stay at Itasca, an adventure on your bicycle, or a class that takes you to the far corners of the globe. Funds raised through Give MN support these Minnesota programs and activities. We thank you for your generosity and your support.
