$4,000 Goal

Help AMP Raise $4,000 to Perform at RADfest by March 15th!

We are thrilled to announce that AMP has been invited to perform at the annual Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival in Kalamazoo, MI on March 6th! We are resetting and performing an excerpt from our 2024 show entitled, The Chosen One. The cast of 5 will travel March 5-8 to attend the festival, perform, and connect with Midwest dance artists and communities.

Not all of the expenses needed to make this performance happen will be covered by the festival. Please help us close the gap and reach our goal so that we can share our work and pay our artists livable compensation for their time and talents!

Breakdown of RADfest Expenses

Connecting through art and community is especially vital right now. We are hoping to raise $4,000 by March 15th to support and offset the expenses associated with this project. Thank you for any and all support!

A note from Artistic Director, Joanna Lees:

Nearly two years ago, we performed our 12th Season Performance in March 2024. Following that season and AMP's most expansive two years to date, we temporarily limited the majority of our activities and operations so that I could care for myself, my mental health, and my overall wellbeing. It was a really difficult decision to make. But taking this time has been invaluable and I am grateful for the support by AMP's Board of Directors' who continue to meet regularly. Last summer, we started to strategically plan how to methodically increase AMP's activity level again as our collective passions are still embedded in our mission to empower and connect communities through contemporary dance. With this in mind, we applied and were selected to perform in Midwest RADfest. This is a beginning as we start to bring more local offerings back to the Twin Cities. Thank you.

OUR MISSION

Alternative Motion Project (AMP) empowers and connects communities through highly physical, evocative, and collaborative contemporary dance experiences.

AMP engages with artists & audiences alike through performance & education programs to promote an open environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and understanding.

AMP’s creative work encourages the sharing of perspectives to reflect a variety of current themes and issues through showcasing and supporting new dance works by an array of different artists.

OUR HISTORY

AMP was founded in 2011 to create professional opportunities for Twin Cities dance artists & to engage with students and audiences so they may connect deeply & intentionally to the performance experience.

AMP has developed educational & performance programs to:

  • produce 15 mainstage shows for Twin Cities audiences;
  • create 40+ original new works;
  • provide performance opportunities to 50+ local professional performers;
  • commission 25+ local choreographers to create new & existing works;
  • collaborate & perform with local & national artists who practice various non-movement art forms (music, painting, photography, etc);
  • create original engagement initiatives that help to uncover the artistic process for audiences;
  • assembled multiple non-profit dance organizations to support each other in community fundraising events;
  • develop multi-year educational residencies with public schools;
  • host classes for adult & professional students that aid in professional development;
  • executed a creative college mentorship program with Winona State University Dance Minors Students;
  • perform as part of multiple domestic tours.

We continue to build upon our long term goals:

  • To lead in our values in accessibility, particularly financial and physical accessibility.
  • To engage AMP’s presence in the dance community and the Twin Cities.
  • To make AMP more equitable, internally within the organization and externally within our activities and focus.
  • To remain flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing nature of our world and resources.

Move BIG.
