NEWS & VIEWS OF PHILLIPS SINCE 1976

Celebrating 50 years, "the alley" is the community newspaper of the Phillips Community in Minneapolis, serving more than 20,000 residents and many businesses, agencies, schools, and visitors to Phillips. For five decades, the paper has been a trusted forum of ideas, information, and announcements—elevating community voices and covering the issues and stories that matter most to the people who live here.

Alley Communications is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a place where voices that are usually ignored in the mainstream media can be heard. Our newspaper counters the often negative portrayal of our community with the narrative of its residents that offer a more balanced documentation of the Phillips community.

We encourage community involvement in all aspects of creating the paper, from writing articles to serving on our board. "the alley" exists because of, and for, the Phillips community. We want the voices of Phillips to be heard and the people of Phillips to be seen.

As we celebrate 50 years, we are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this grassroots effort. "the alley" relies entirely on donations to keep going. Please consider supporting us so that together we can continue uplifting community voices for the next 50 years. Every contribution makes a difference.

If you are interested in writing for "the alley" or otherwise becoming involved in this grassroots community-led and community-directed organization, please contact us at copydesk@alleynews.org. Thank you for helping to keep community news alive!
