Allegro Choral Academy/Allegro Performing Arts

The heart of singing and performance in the South Metro.

Allegro Choral Academy was founded in 2006 with the goal of promoting choral music for the next generation.  Strong community support and dedicated students have caused Allegro to boom.  Over the past 20 years, Allegro has been offering three choirs that meet weekly in Apple Valley.  Students range from grade 2 to grade 9. Allegro has also expanded its summer offerings to include two singing camps for ages 6-11.

In 2025, Allegro expanded its programming to support singing on the musical theatre stage. This blossomed into Allegro Performing Arts which continues to support the activities of the Choral Academy. Musical theatre experiences include the popular Broadway Bound! summer camps during which children ages 11-18 put an entire musical together in a one-week camp. Prologue Players was created to bridge the gap between educational musical theatre and those wishing to gain professional performance experience. Prologue Players is a professional musical theatre company for performers ages 19-26. In June of 2026, Prologue Players will present Godspell.

Allegro is rooted in the philosophy that all children possess a desire to create something beautiful.  By harnessing each child's eagerness and creativity, Allegro works to inspire its students, develop their self-confidence and teach them how music enriches our community. By creating opportunities for community singing, Allegro invests in shared experiences and cultivates spaces in which young people can use their voice to uplift others.

Allegro is also an ardent supporter of its partners in arts education, awarding Music Support Grants to area schools, church and community music programs.  Grant funds are generated at every Allegro concert, showing the children, firsthand, how their music goes beyond Allegro to positively impact the larger community.
