Aitkin Youth Center (AYC)

The Aitkin Youth Center (AYC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space where youth can connect, grow, and thrive. Since opening our doors, more than 200 teens have become part of the AYC family, proving just how important a positive place to belong is in our community.

AYC is completely free for youth in grades 7-12 and welcomes young people from Aitkin and surrounding communities. We believe every teen deserves access to a safe environment, supportive adults, healthy meals, and opportunities to discover their strengths—regardless of their family's financial situation.

Our doors are open from 3:30–7:30 p.m. twice each week.

Each night at AYC, youth can count on:

• A nutritious meal

• Snacks, beverages, and grab-and-go food

• Caring adult mentors and positive role models

• A welcoming place to build friendships and simply be themselves

Our programming is designed to engage, inspire, and empower youth through activities such as:

• Open gym (basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, football, floor hockey, pickleball, and soccer)

• Foosball and ping pong

• Arts, crafts, painting, and drawing classes

• Healthy Chats discussions

• Cooking and baking experiences

• Community volunteer opportunities

• Youth Leadership meetings

• Sports tournaments

• Puzzles, board games, and card games

• A free community resource table stocked with clothing, personal care items, backpacks, and other essentials

More than just an after-school program, AYC is a place where young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, form meaningful relationships, and create lasting memories. We strive to ensure every teen who walks through our doors feels valued, respected, and supported.

The Aitkin Youth Center strives to create a nurturing, safe, and consistent environment where youth feel they belong. Through positive relationships, educational opportunities, recreation, leadership development, and community involvement, we empower young people to make positive life choices, reach their full potential, and become the next generation of leaders in our community.
