Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA) has served as a private, 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Action Agency (CAA) for the Northeastern Minnesota counties of St. Louis, Lake, and Cook for more than 60 years, in response to the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. In addition, AEOA provides services across the nine neighboring counties of Aitkin, Carlton, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Itasca, Koochiching, and Pine, making it one of the largest private, nonprofit CAAs in Minnesota. The mission of AEOA is to strengthen communities by providing opportunities for people experiencing social and economic challenges.

AEOA delivers a wide range of programs through six departments: Employment and Training, Head Start, Housing Resources, Housing Weatherization and Rehabilitation, Senior and Nutrition Services, and Transit. Because many of AEOA’s programs have strict eligibility or funding guidelines, the agency is sometimes unable to assist clients facing unique or urgent needs.

To bridge these gaps, the AEOA Foundation Fund provides flexible financial support for urgent needs that existing programs cannot cover. This fund helps people overcome critical barriers by covering essential expenses such as dental anesthesia for surgery, vehicle repairs, hygiene supplies for shelters, and other necessities that can prevent hunger, unemployment, or homelessness.

AEOA manages campaigns supporting other agency initiatives and also accepts donations on behalf of eight local food shelves, for which it serves as the fiscal sponsor. Please see the fundraiser campaigns below to contribute to a fund other than the AEOA Foundation Fund.
