For almost 75 years, the ACLU of Minnesota has stood as the state's fiercest defender of civil liberties. With escalating threats to immigrant communities, freedom of the press, and voting rights, the fight for justice has never been more urgent. The ACLU-MN is on the frontlines of this fight and we need your support.

Since January 2025, ACLU and affiliates have taken 200 legal actions against the Trump administration, including filing 111 lawsuits challenging unlawful attacks on immigrants’ rights, free speech, DEI, trans justice, and government overreach. For comparison, we took 434 legal actions during President Trump’s entire first term. At this pace, we’ll surpass that in half the time.

We are holding the line in courts across the country, forcing this administration to back down when it matters most: 

• 80% of decided SCOTUS cases had a SCOTUS ruling in our favor or a mixed ruling
• 80% of lower court closed cases had positive or mixed outcomes
• 83% of all cases requesting emergency relief received it
• 71% of all cases have already defeated, diluted, or delayed the Trump agenda

Just this year, the ACLU-MN won a major victory after more than five years protecting press freedom for journalists covering protests; we sued St. Francis Area Schools to stop unconstitutional book bans and won; we've continued defending Minnesotans' voting rights; and we are fighting to protect immigrants from the Trump administration's deportation agenda. These victories and work would not be possible without you.
