At the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota, we are fighting for democracy.
Your support allows the ACLU-MN to turn outrage into hope -- and hope into action -- to protect the rights of all Minnesotans.

Over the past year, Minnesota has experienced great grief, anger, and sometimes even a sense of hopelessness —
As police killed George Floyd in Minneapolis, and Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center.
As police assaulted journalists and protesters.
As law enforcement destroyed the tents and belongings of our unhoused neighbors.
Together, we’re working to turn that pain into action and change the status quo. Together, we are working toward a better Minnesota, where civil liberties and civil rights are for all people, and where everyone is equal under the law.
We're working together toward a Minnesota where routine police stops don't end in injury or death. We won a settlement and numerous policing reforms for Kelvin Francisco Rodriguez, who begged to go to the hospital after Worthington police broke his ribs, piercing his liver and pancreas.
We’re working together for a Minnesota where police don’t use traffic stops as an excuse to do searches. We won a settlement for Kelli Jo Torres, a passenger in a car pulled over for a dangling air freshener, who had deputies try to forcibly strip search her on a freeway on-ramp.
We're working together toward a Minnesota where public safety means protection for all. So we helped shift nearly $8 million from Minneapolis police into resources like mental health crisis teams and violence prevention. This is a critical first step toward communities that are safe and healthy for everyone.
We're working together toward a Minnesota where the rights of protesters and the press are protected. When law enforcement once again attacked demonstrators and journalists during the Daunte Wright protests, we won a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to stop police assaults on journalists and protect a free press.
We're working together toward a Minnesota where transgender people, including trans youth, belong in every area of public life. We won a settlement on behalf of our client Nick when the Anoka-Hennepin school district barred him from using the locker room that matches his identity.
We’re working together toward a Minnesota where the rights and humanity of immigrants are respected. We filed a lawsuit on behalf of two teen girls who were detained in horrendous conditions at the border, held in cages and made to compete for food.
Nationally, we’ve fought for 100 years for the people who dare to create a more perfect union. Next year, in Minnesota, we’re proud to announce that we turn 70.
And we're just getting started.
We’re here for the people. We’re here for you. Are you with us?
