At the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota, we are fighting for democracy.

You care about your civil liberties and those of all Minnesotans. You know civil rights remain under attack, plus there’s a lot of cleaning up to do from the unprecedented and escalating assaults on basic human rights and democracy.

Give to the Max Day is an especially great day to support the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota’s crucial work.

A generous anonymous donor will match every gift, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. That means you can double the difference you make for civil liberties.

For 70 years, the ACLU of Minnesota has persisted in the conviction that our democracy is strongest when we let people vote. That's why the ACLU-MN appealed to the Minnesota Supreme Court to end the disenfranchisement of more than 53,000 Minnesotans.

We keep fighting attacks on our First Amendment. When police assaulted and targeted journalists who were covering the George Floyd protests, the ACLU-MN sued. When Minnesota State Patrol once again attacked journalists, this time during the Daunte Wright protests, we went to court again. We just won an order that indefinitely prevents police assaults and arrests of journalists who are only doing their jobs.

We keep battling our government’s treatment of immigrants. Along with ACLU-Texas, we won a historic settlement for two teen sisters who experienced severe abuse and mistreatment while in the custody of Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).

We keep fighting to end police brutality. We sued the Robbinsdale police for arresting and charging our client, Amy Koopman, for recording while the help two Black men at gunpoint. We sued and we won.

And we keep pushing back against discrimination, winning a settlement from the city of Faribault over its unconstitutional and discriminatory housing rental ordinance.

In the courts, at the Capitol, in the streets, the ACLU-MN is there. But the victories cannot be won without you.

We’re here for the people. We’re here for you. Are you with us?

Note: The ACLU of Minnesota is solely funded through generous donors like you! We do not receive funding from the government. Your donations help leverage our education and advocacy work, and the valuable services of Minnesota attorneys who donate thousands of hours of pro bono work annually.
