WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE STAND FOR

Future of Us (formerly Asian American Organizing Project or AAOP) is a bold and vibrant force for political and social transformation, empowering young Asian Americans in Minnesota to harness their collective power. We cultivate a space where individuals can explore their identities, build lasting political momentum and engagement, and take action to challenge systemic barriers. Our work is rooted in storytelling, advocacy, and community building, ensuring that young Asian Americans are seen, heard, and influential in leadership and decision-making spaces.  We believe in breaking through barriers within our communities and in how we engage the broader public. We are courageous, confident, and forward-thinking, balancing diplomacy with bold action. At our core, we are storytellers, movement builders, and advocates who ask hard questions and seek solutions that drive lasting impact.

MISSION: WHY WE EXIST

Future of Us builds vibrant communities and channels individual agency and power to cultivate bold Asian organizers. We equip young Asian Americans with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to become changemakers in their communities and beyond. Through advocacy, organizing, and youth empowerment, we create a future where Asian Americans are politically engaged and represented at all levels of society. 

One way we enable youth to empower youth is by hosting an annual Asian Youth Justice Summit. Young Asian Minnesotans find their voices, their confidence and their power at the youth-centered, youth-led event. The gathering creates a space of gratitude, community and inclusion while offering sessions such as connecting financial literacy to power, learning the art of organizing for social change, how storytelling can spark change and working together to build a city of the future. By fostering identity-driven advocacy, Future of Us empowers youth to challenge systemic barriers, build coalitions, and create lasting impact. Our work ensures that young Asian Americans see themselves as powerful agents of political and social transformation.
