Second Harvest Heartland Food Bank

A nonprofit organization

$806,501 raised by 4,486 donors

More than 813,000 people in our region reached out for food assistance last year. That’s 1 in 6 of our neighbors. Hunger is still here in the heartland, but together we can change that.

Our mission at Second Harvest Heartland is to end hunger together. As the engine that fuels our region’s hunger-relief efforts, we work closely with a network of 388 food shelves and nearly 1,000 partner programs to provide meals to neighbors in need.

Together with our partners in hunger-relief and support from neighbors like you, we have provided more than 107 million meals so far this year. That’s making a real impact, but we can’t slow down now, as inflation and high grocery costs mean too many local kids, families and seniors are facing hunger today.

We need your help to continue our hunger-fighting work. Today, you can give the gift of food stability and help ensure every plate is full this holiday season, and in the coming winter months.

"You've got to either pay your bills or your groceries. But you need both."

"We haven't had money for food. Sometimes the only food we've had in a week has been a box from the food shelf... and that says a lot. Otherwise, we just wouldn't have eaten anything and we are just incredibly grateful."
