100 Rural Women

100 Women is all about making connections and inspiring leadership. Each year, as a key part of our mission, we empower 10-15 young women to help design and support our programming and marketing through internships, graduate assistantships, fellowships and staff positions to contribute to shaping the next phases of this organization. 

In 2022, we reached a pivotal point in our work with the 100 in 100 project. In this project, we held 100 community meetings across the state of Minnesota with the intention of identifying barriers to leadership and determining support strategies for rural women. Over 1,000 women actively participated in these convenings, setting the foundation for future work. We look forward to connecting with even more women this coming year, expanding our network beyond 10,000 women.

This year, we dove into the next phase of program development with our Civic Mentorship Network Pilot Project. The Civic Mentorship Network Pilot Project was comprised of rural civic leaders who served as mentors for new women pursuing public service and leadership positions. This network provided a coordinated method for aspiring leaders to make person-to-person connections that give access to resources that are valuable to enduring success. At 100 Rural Women, we find that success in engaging and mentoring more rural women to serve in public service leadership roles is essential to keeping our democracy strong. Our goal is to use the Civic Mentorship Network to develop an expansive network that provides personal mentorship to help support women as they pursue civic leadership positions and then plan to build across sectors. Through this network, 100 Rural Women hopes to help create a future where more women lead.

Women from all around Minnesota benefit from these opportunities to lead, mentor, and learn. We have a robust network, but 100 Rural Women is committed to offering this programming to even more women. Together, we can expand our network to over 10,000 women. Will you join us with a gift?
