Kaleena raising money for Springboard for the Arts
Kaleena Miller Dance is a tap dance group devoted to the historical preservation as well as the creative advancement of American Tap Dance.
Kaleena Miller Dance is fundraising for SHIFT, an evening of tap dance at the Southern Theater June 22-25, 2017.
The show will premiere a new work by Kaleena Miller, featuring a different musical soundtrack every night commissioned specifically for this work. Commissioned music makers include Reid Anderson (The Bad Plus), JT Bates (Alpha Consumer), Alexei Caselle (Kill the Vultures, Roma Di Luna) and Leah Lott (LOTT, Fog).

Kaleena is a 2007 SAGE Award recipient for People’s Choice and a 2011 nominee for Outstanding Performer. She has received funding from the Jerome Foundation and Minnesota State Arts Board, and has been commissioned to create work for the Walker Art Center, Southern Theater, Wayzata Symphony Orchestra, Hear Here! Festival, and SPCPA. Kaleena recently worked with Derick Grant on a solo for the McKnight Fellowship.
She graduated from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities with a BFA in Dance, and credits Char Weiss and Karla Grotting for her tap training, with additional training from Roxane Butterly and Heather Cornell. Kaleena is a 2015 McKnight Dance Fellow and was recently named one of DANCE Magazine's "25 to Watch".
