At a time when international public health promotion is under attack, WellShare is investing in innovative evidence based health promotion in Tanzania.
This program empowers mothers to know the early warning signs of pediatric malnutrition, pregnancy warning signs, and early cancer detection, saving many lives each year.
Our health education programming empowers more than 20 local community health workers who reach the majority of villages in our district with evidence based health education and connection to clinical resources.
Our programs have reduced infant and child mortality and health complications and have increased rates of preventative screening among the villages in the Simuyu District.
Unfortunately, many other international interventions are being cut in our area, leaving WellShare as one of the few remaining.
Every $1000 donated opens a new village to evidence based health education and connection to local clinical systems.
WellShare’s slogan, Community Health Works!, rings true in all of our programs. In Tanzania, our community health worker (CHW) model is the foundation of the program’s overwhelming success. The CHW model offers many unique benefits that conventional approaches often lack. Most importantly, our approach is both sustainable and effective.
