WALK 4 SICKLE CELL
SUMMER FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE
Join the challenge and help us fulfill our mission to the sickle cell community
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a genetic disease that causes red blood cells to become hard and sticky. This devastating condition is lifelong and is known for causing strokes, organ failure and severe pain crisis. Many of these complications require urgent medical treatment and lengthy hospitalizations. Those living with SCD work incredibly hard to not be defined by the pain of this disease, but rather, their incredible strength and resiliency.
SCD is the most common genetic blood condition found on newborn screenings in the U.S. In Minnesota, nearly 30 babies are born with sickle cell disease each and every year and annually more than 1,200 babies are born with sickle cell trait, making these babies highest risk for having future children with SCD.
Whether you make a 1-time or monthly donation or create a team fundraiser (we love this idea!) you can help us expand our reach as we continue to work toward improving outcomes for those living with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait.
Ways to join our fundraising challenge & event:
1. Register for the Walk4SCD event on Sat 8/31 ($25)
2. Donate any amount through this page (or a team fundraising page)
