Pitching-in, Donating & Other Stuff
This event is all about community! We have several ways for our school and neighborhood to work together to collectively create this magical event. You can attend a maker event, chip in on the cost of materials via our Amazon wishlist, get creative on your own by making ice bowls and art, volunteer the day of the event or donate directly to SAPSA to sponsor the event. Or do a little bit of each!
Join the Set-Up Crew on Saturday, February 24th
On the day of the festival, grab a shift to help load-in the art installations, assemble the luminaries, create the path and light it up. Children are welcome to help with a participating adult. In fact, our students were some of our very best helpers last year!

Serve Hot Cocoa on Saturday Evening
We will have hot cocoa by the bandstand both evenings. This will be a mostly self-service station. Adults, please help your children, keep things tidy and be responsible for any trash your party creates. We will need volunteers on hand to keep supplies in shape and warm additional water throughout the event. Shifts are one hour and we suggest adults only due to the very hot water.

Join the Clean-Up Party on Monday Morning
We will clean it all up Monday morning at 7:30AM. It's a perfect chance to accompany your children to school, hug them goodbye and help us leave the park in better shape than when we arrived. We will have coffee!

Bundle Up!
The Luminary is 100% outside. This year may be more wet and muddy than cold, so please plan appropriate footwear and plan a few layers for when the temperature drops after dusk.
Gotta Go?
Bathrooms will be open at Langford Park Recreation Center which will be open until 9PM on Saturday evening. The rec center is closed Sunday, so go before you go! The closest spot is the Holiday Gas Station on Como & Raymond.
Saturday Evening
Saturday evening's event will welcome a few hundred elementary-aged school children with their adult chaperones. The procession will kick off around 6:15PM and all are welcome for free play at the school playground beforehand. Adults should know: candles are electric and fire dancers will have very firm rules/protocol about space for safety purposes. Please prepare your child(ren) to be attentive.
Alisa Mee from the St. Anthony Park Library will share a winter-themed illuminated crankie story for all ages on fifteen minute increments starting at 6PM on Saturday evening. Learn more about crankies here.
Programming will conclude at 7:30PM.
Sunday Evening
Sunday evening will be very laid back for attendees to walk the path at their own pace.
The path will be lit all night both nights for you night owls. Hoot hoot!
Donate
You can donate online before, during or after the event right here! There will be donation jars at the event for anyone who'd like to make a cash or check donation.
What Does My Donation Do?
The St. Anthony Park School Association (SAPSA) pays for field trips, classroom materials, books, school patrol, EDL, Artist-in-Residence, family education nights, and other special events. SAPSA covers these expenses so all our children can participate regardless of their financial situation.
The Luminary provides us with an opportunity to give and support the needs and programs that make St. Anthony Park Elementary the vibrant, caring and nurturing school it is. Our goal is to raise $1,500 with the modest ask of $5 per person or $25 per family. Thank you!
