The City of Plymouth and Plymouth Crime and Fire Prevention Fund received the sad news that former Public Safety Director/Police Chief Mike Goldstein passed away as a result of a medical incident Tuesday, May 20.
Goldstein retired in January 2021 following a landmark career in Plymouth that spanned more than three decades. Mike inspired everyone who met him – a true servant leader whose contributions to public safety will be felt for years to come. The Plymouth Crime and Fire Prevention Fund's thoughts and prayers are with the Goldstein family. Mike was one in a million. The City of Plymouth has lowered flags to half-mast in honor of Goldstein.
Mike was passionate about Officer Wellness and was a true pioneer in this area. He developed one of the first Officer Wellness programs in the state, leading the way in providing what were then called "Check-ups from the Neck Up." These have since become common practice in police departments across the state and the country.
When Mike retired in 2021, the Plymouth Crime and Fire Prevention Fund established "The Mike Goldstein Health & Wellness Fund" as a way to honor Mike and continue to invest in the mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health of Plymouth's first responders.
