Although 2020 has brought many changes, our mission statement hasn’t changed: to provide a temporary, safe and loving environment for children while supporting and strengthening families experiencing a stressful situation. During this challenging time, we have worked hard to ensure that families still have access to our services and have adapted as necessary to make that happen. We are currently allowing one family to stay at the Ivy House at a time, ensuring safety for both our staff and the children in our care.
From the challenges come many things that cause us to rejoice in hope. When we faced financial challenges due to having to cancel our in-person fundraisers this spring, the community stepped up to support the SMNCN mission and our online fundraiser raised more than $10,000, ensuring SMNCN could continue to serve families in need.
When families using our services began to suffer from economic insecurity, members of the community donated gift cards and material goods to ensure that these children would be able to have their needs met.
When the stresses of the stay-at-home order began to impact families, we provided them with emotional support and encouragement through our hotline.
Although this year will continue to require adaptation, SMNCN is confident that with the help of donors like you, we’ll be able to keep serving the most at risk children in our community.
