Announcing our first weekly challenge winner!
Thank you so much to everyone who joined the HOPEtober campaign this first full week of October! We're off to a great start with 18 pages set up.
Every gift towards the Freedom Fund will provide life-changing assistance, such as WiFi for families with children doing distance learning, or new locks on an apartment door that's been broken by an abusive partner.
As HOPEtober continues, we'll share HOPEtober progress and provide updates with you!
During this first week of October, everyone who raised at least $100 was entered into a drawing for a for a Tubman Swag Bag. We are happy to announce that PAUL TILLMAN is this week's winner!
Congratulations Paul, and thank you to everyone who has donated and shared their pages. Let's keep it up, because there are more prizes for our weekly challenges!
Each year, more than 25,000 people come to Tubman for help because of violence, assault, exploitation, addiction, or other forms of trauma. And Tubman is there, with committed expert staff and our unique continuum of services that include safety planning, shelter, legal assistance, mental and chemical health services, support groups, and so much more.
It's that "so much more" that you can help provide by joining this year's #HOPEtober campaign throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this October.
As our clients work to heal and make life-changing decisions for themselves and their children, often we find they need a little something more. And right now, with record unemployment, and increased stress and isolation due to COVID-19, families already coping with violence, homelessness, assault, exploitation, and more are facing even greater barriers.
For this reason, the #HOPEtober campaign supports Tubman's Freedom Fund, which provides direct assistance to meet our clients' unique needs. Here are just a few examples:
For some people, it's a gas card or transportation to a job interview or a court appearance.
For some, it's the cost of new locks on an apartment door that's been broken by an abusive partner.
Or it's renting storage space for their belongings while they stay in our shelter and find a new safe place to live.
And for many people, especially due to the pandemic, it's rental assistance to maintain stable housing, WiFi so children can attend virtual school, or simply a few groceries to help make it to their next payday.
These may seem like small things, but to someone currently in fear, pain, and trauma, they can feel like enormous barriers to an unknown future different from what they've known in the past.
The needs are real, and we need your help. Please support #HOPEtober and become a champion to help us reach our goal of $40,000 for the Freedom Fund. Together, we can truly make a difference for people seeking safety, hope, and healing this October and in the year ahead.
