Double Your Impact for the Cannon River Watershed

On a warm August afternoon, neighbors and friends gathered on a rolling prairie near Horseshoe Lake to celebrate a remarkable milestone.

The Hruska family — whose roots in Le Sueur County reach back more than a century — permanently protected their 152-acre family farm, now known as the Horseshoe Lake Wildlife Management Area.

For generations, the Hruskas cared for their land with deep respect — keeping their fields free from chemicals, nurturing healthy soil, and welcoming wildlife home.

This year, with support from Clean River Partners, and in partnership with the Trust for Public Land and Great River Greening, that care became permanent.

Your support makes stories like this possible. Every donation you make shows our partners and funders that our community values our work.

Last year, community donations of $100,000 helped us unlock $429,000 in grants and contracts — a fourfold return on your generosity!  

This year, every dollar donated will be doubled up to $5,000, thanks to a match from the Olseth Family Foundation. That means $30 becomes $60, $60 becomes $120, and $120 becomes $240.

3 things we accomplished this year thanks to community support.

1. We collaborated with 41 community partners. We believe that building community relationships in the watershed, region, and state will help inspire shared action.
2. We are on track to support 1,000 acres of cover crops. We help farmers to use practices that protect water quality, improve soil health, and keep the watershed resilient. 
3. We helped protect 200 acres of vital habitat. We partner with organizations and landowners to preserve land, restore critical habitat, and increase public access.
