Itasca Chapter of Lets Go Fishing with Seniors.
Our local chapter is volunteer run and we are proud to be a part of such a worthwhile organization. Itasca County is "The Land of 1000 Grand Lakes". With over 1000 lakes within our borders it's easy to see how being on the water has been a big part of our lives. For our seniors who are no longer able to enjoy the lakes due to a wide variety of reasons, Lets Go Fishing offers our seniors a true enrichment to their lives. In 2012 our local chapter completed 127 cruises and fishing trips getting out over 1300 people on area lakes.
We offer both fishing and excursions cruises at no cost to participants 55 years and older, handicapped, and is open to seniors in nursing homes, assisted living, and individuals who want to get out and enjoy the water. The Let’s go Fishing program is for all Seniors/Handicapped. The Let’s Go Fishing Pontoon is specially designed to provide full accessibility. The Pontoon has been designed to accommodate Seniors/Handicapped by having higher rails, captain’s chairs, and wider door access to accommodate wheelchairs. We provide everything necessary for a fishing, or boating tour, including rods, reels, bait, life preservers, beverages and a snack.
The only thing you need if you want to fish, is a Minnesota Fishing License where required**.
New to 2012
We are working with area schools to provide fishing course and a day on the lake fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
